What is the off-grid solar power system? Dec 29, 2021

Off-grid solar means meeting all your energy needs from the power of the sun — with no help from the electrical grid.


For most DC-coupled off-grid systems ,Off-grid systems work independently of the grid but have batteries which can store the solar power generated by the system. The system usually consists of solar panels, battery, charge controller, grid box, inverter, mounting structureand balance of systems.

(1)Solar cell components

Solar cell module is the main part of the solar power supply system, is also the most valuable component of the solar power supply system, its function is to convert the solar radiation energy into direct current energy.


(2)Solar charge and discharge controller

Solar charge and discharge controller, also known as "photovoltaic controller", its role is to adjust and control the electric energy sent by the solar cell module, to charge the battery to the maximum, and play the role of over-charge protection and over-discharge protection of the battery. Where the temperature difference is large, the photovoltaic controller should have the function of temperature compensation.

Off-grid inverter is the core component of off-grid power generation system, which is responsible for converting direct current to alternating current for ac load. In order to improve the overall performance of photovoltaic power generation system and ensure the long-term stable operation of power station, the performance index of inverter is very important.


The panels store enough sunlight during the day and use the excess power generated in the night. Electricity supply in rural and remote areas - Off-grid solar systems can facilitate independent, long-term and sustainable electricity generation in rural and remote areas.
