how do you install a ground mounted solar system? Jan 07, 2021

How do you install a ground mounted solar system? The question is professional. Many countries have different questions about install solar ground mounting system, such as the sunlight, the national policy, the transport, the varying altitudes, the soil and so on.

There are solar ground-mount solutions for the any type of soil. With varying altitudes, water tables and environments, the soils can be divided into sandy, soft, rocky or clay-laden.

The four most common solar ground mounting solutions : ground screws, concrete foundations, flat ground ballast and C /U piles. Different solar ground mounting solutions can meet the different of soils.

Ground screws:

Ground screws are the ground anchors that are hot dip galvanizing Q235B material , 76mm outer diameter, 1000-3000mm length and have a 200mm or 220mm flange diameter.

Ground screw work that mounted or attached near the bottom of the post. Once driven the proper depth, the helix portion of the ground screw will resist being pulled out by creating a cone of soil above it(so Except for the sandy and rocky soil) .

Xiamen Kseng Metal Tech Company fabricates and installs ground screws of varying sizes to adapt to different soil types. Ground screws work in a wide range of soils and it comes down to how you design the ground screw to accommodate where you’re trying to install into.

To install a ground screw in dense soils, set the screw inside and drive the mount into the ground using a proprietary machinery. In medium-dense to loose soils, ground screws can be driven directly into the ground. And use the ground screw can fast to install, strong, lightweight, low cost, robust, low mess, and kind to the environment.

Concrete foundations :

Concrete base ground mounts is a highly versatile ground mounted solution that can be widely applied in smaller projects, site with corrosive or swampy soils and installations in regions prone to hurricanes and high winds. The concrete foundation ground mounting method that requires significantly more excavation than narrower, pile-driven foundations: concrete piers. These posts are suspended in holes 12 to 18 in. in diameter, with a depth of 6 to 8 ft., and wet concrete is poured around them.

Flat ground ballast:

Flat groundballasted systems are a non-penetrating foundation solution for solar. Racking is attached directly to a footing, block or basket, and concrete is commonly used as the weight to hold it in place. The concrete is either precast, in which posted are mounted to blocks brought to the site; or concrete is poured into basins and cured on-site around the posts.

Deciding which concrete solution to use depends on site conditions, job costs and system size. Flat ground ballasted systems are often used on volatile sites, like landfills, brown fields and Super funds, where the soil cannot be penetrated due to potential contamination.

C /U piles:

C/U piles are a common component across the field of construction, used as structural supports in horizontal and vertical applications in buildings. They are also the most common ground-mount option for solar systems.

C/U piles are installed using a piledriver that pushes them directly into the earth. Racking is then attached to the exposed beam. C/U piles can be mounted in clay, black and sandy soils, and work best when the site is rock-free. The soil’s friction keeps the piles in place.

For C/U piles in sandy soil, embedment depth is based on grain size. Higher water tables can reduce friction and require a pile to be driven deeper than usual.
